![]() Dukes Lagoon is now open! We recently made a visit after Memorial Day weekend, and we had a blast! There are four areas to Dukes Lagoon. (When my 3-year-old is big enough she is going to love going on it.)ĭukes Lagoon is the water play area at Dutch Wonderland that is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. ![]() I went on it with my husband and it was so much fun. Adults and older kids will love Dutch Wonderland’s newest roller coaster, Merlin’s Mayhem. Dutch Wonderland is truly A Kingdom for Kids! ® but the best part is there is something for everyone and every age. Her second favorite ride was the Turnpike where you get to drive. My 3-year-old was able to ride almost every ride, even a roller coaster! She loved riding the Joust coaster and rode it about 5 times during our visit. My youngest is 15 months old and she was able to ride with us on many rides such as the Gondola Cruise, the Wonderland Special Train, and more. (From the Merry-Go-Round to bumper cars, and roller coasters.) All rides are assigned a stone/color to let you know what height you have to be to ride. (Actually, there are over 35!) No matter your age there is a ride you can go on. There are so many rides at Dutch Wonderland. Below is just a snapshot of what Dutch Wonderland is, and how much fun my family had on our visit. My family has been going to Dutch Wonderland for years and I can see why it’s so popular with families. (They also have a campground!) While it caters towards kids the park has so much to offer. (I reside in Maryland and the park is only 1.5 hours from my house.) It has rides, a water play area, games, food, entertainment, and more. ![]() Located near Lancaster, PA Dutch Wonderland is a 43-acre amusement/theme park for all ages. We had such a blast at Dutch Wonderland’s opening weekend. (Yeah savings!) As always, I would not recommend a product or experience I, or my family, did not like. I also received a discount link for my followers/readers. Seven eateries offer fast and buffet fare and numerous ice cream, funnel cake and Dole Whip stands dot the premises.Disclosure: This year I am happy to announce I am a Dutch Wonderland Royal Ambassador! What does that mean? This means I received complimentary one-day admission to their park in exchange for my review, and posts. Out on Exploration Island, farthest from the park entrance and beyond the reach of the monorail or the tram, a dinosaur bone dig gives kids a chance to get dirty and a walking path past dinosaur sculptures provides a shady respite from the shriek-filled rides. Rounding the the back of the park you’ll find rides and attractions including bumper cars Storytime Corner an amphitheater with diving shows the Kingdom Coaster and a Merry-Go-Round. To the left of the entrance you’ll pass Duke’s Lagoon, a shallow waterpark open only in summer with flume rides, dueling twisting covered waterslides and cabana loungers space simulators and the flying trapeze. Then, it’s a good idea to ride the birds-eye-view monorail or ground-level tram as they wind through parts of the 48-acre property showcasing what’s in store. To get an overview, take advantage of the park’s Preview Plan entitling all full-day ticket holders to enter the park for free for the three hours prior to closing the day before their adventure begins. But for kids ages three to seven, this might be heaven. Its 30-some rides are tame compared to larger amusement parks like Six Flags or Cedar Point - its only roller coaster, the Kingdom Coaster, never inverts – and most of its daily shows – like Bubba Bear & the Badland Band or Adventure of the Frog Prince – will only be entertaining for younger children. A giant purple-trimmed castle welcomes families to Dutch Wonderland, a fairytale-themed amusement park fronting Wood Creek on the eastern outskirts of Lancaster in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch country.
